About Us
Lila Café is a picturesque, yet equally delicious option for
brunch. Set along the Baga creek, its thatched roofs and
bamboo chairs make a cozy, light and airy setting. It's so
laid back, it's the kind of place you want to read the papers
and while away the day, watching the light change.
They have the best croissants, sour dough bread, pumpernickel bread,
Hungarian goulash and smoked kingfish in town. Even buffalo
meat, but that's an acquired taste. Everything is natural
and home-made, even those products that are sourced: like the
marmalade and honey from Kodaikani.
Proprietors Ingo and Elizabeth from Germany have been in Goa
for over two decades now. They used to run The Coconut Inn on
Candolim beach as far back as 1978. The nephew of Sheikh
Nasser's Emir once was besotted by this shack, rented it for
a week-long party and eventually bought it out. But Ingo's most
cherished memories are those of Gregory Peck, David Niven, Roger
Moore, Patrick Macnee and Trevor Howard hanging out at his
shack after their shoots during the filming of Sea Wolves in
the late '70s, when the parties were very different.
